Between April 6th and April 8th, 2021, a giant polar air mass came across and caused a massive frost on the Burgundy vineyards.
A snowy episode turned into a frost on Château de Marsannay. The heat of the last days of March particularly stimulated the budding of the vine. The great majority of the vineyard became very vulnerable. We were hit by an advective type of frost, by a very cold uniform air mass (down to -6 degrees), against which almost no means of fighting could compete.
We hope to have some good surprises on the latest-developing plots, where the buds were still dormant, but we can already draw a conclusion about the 2021 vintage: it will be rare and therefore difficult to obtain.
